Presentation on Proactive Change: COVID-19, Health Disparities and the Securing of Our Futures
The medical, economic, governmental, educational and social impacts of COVID-19 on the world and Lucas County, Ohio are not fully known, but the social determinants of health are resulting in radically different experiences of the pandemic.
Dr. Kim E. Nielsen, professor in the Departments of Disability Studies, History, and Women's and Gender Studies at UToledo, and Dr. Monita Mungo, assistant professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at UToledo, seek to blend their expertise, energy and commitment to the greater Toledo region with UToledo students and community leaders. During the presentation, they will discuss their goal to secure a solid future for the region, and those within it, by proactively documenting, addressing and diminishing harmful social disparities.
